Pan-African reinsurer, Continental Reinsurance Plc, has launched the 11th edition of Pan-African (Re)Insurance Journalism Awards.
The awards honour outstanding work in print, broadcast and online journalism in English, French and Arabic, highlighting the vital role of the media in deepening understanding of insurance and reinsurance across Africa.
The 11th Pan-African (Re)Insurance Journalism Awards will feature the following categories:
- Best Re/Insurance Print Entry – English
- Best Re/Insurance Broadcast (TV/Radio) Entry – English
- Best Re/Insurance Online Entry – English
- Best Re/Insurance (TV, Radio, Print, Online) Entry – French
- Best Re/Insurance (TV, Radio, Print, Online) Entry – Arabic
- Best Re/Insurance Social Media Entry
Best Re/Insurance Social Media Entry is a new category that recognises individuals and organisations that use social media platforms such as LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok to inform, educate and shape conversations on insurance, risk and resilience in Africa.
Since their inception, the awards have recognised more than 180 outstanding works of journalism from over 15 African countries, positioning the programme as the continent’s foremost platform celebrating excellence in reporting on insurance, risk, and resilience.
This year’s call for entries runs from 15 October 2025 to 31 January 2026, with winners to be announced at the awards ceremony in April 2026. Entries must have been published or broadcast between 1 February 2025 and 31 January 2026 in English, French, or Arabic.
Speaking on the launch, Lawrence Nazare, group managing director at Continental Re Holdings, said: “The awards have become a vital part of our mission to strengthen Africa’s risk culture through informed storytelling. By introducing the Social Media Journalism category, we’re recognising new voices and digital influencers who bring insurance conversations to wider audiences in accessible, engaging ways.”
Launched by Continental Reinsurance Plc, the Awards celebrate excellence in reporting on insurance and risk management issues in Africa. The awards underscore the critical role of journalism in driving awareness, accountability and resilience across the continent’s financial services landscape.
